Genco Manufacturing Company was founded by brothers Louis Gensburg, David Gensburg and Meyer Gensburg as an amusement game manufacturer. Genco produced a great lineup of amusement options but was most recognized for their gun games. In the 1950s, Genco was the leading manufacturer of shooting gallery themed gun games, but also developed fantastic sport themed games of skill. My favorite Genco games are the Two Player Basketball, Champion Baseball and the Genco Quarterback. Genco would always remain as a thriving amusement company, and it merged with fellow business competitor Chicago Coin Machine Company in 1959.
Genco Manufacturing Co. released 238 machines. (1931 - 1959) - Below are some examples from The Torrence Collection.
1944 GENCO (VICTORY GAMES) G. I. JOE
Rare, 1944 Genco G. I. Joe woodrail pinball. This was a war time conversion by Victory Games converted from a 1941 Genco Jungle. Because of the war time shortage of materials, these conversions were done to develop new game appeal and create a better revenue stream from existing games. Original 1944 Genco G. I Joe instruction card, score card and no gambling card. A nice collectible for the wood rail, G. I. Joe collector or WW2 collector!
1953 GENCO SKY GUNNER
Awesome anti-aircraft machine gun arcade game. You are shooting at 3 dimensional moving planes with fantastic combat scenery. Machine gun actually recoils when fired. Fantastic and rare war themed machine that really is fun. Great art deco cabinet and eye candy.
1953 GENCO GOLDEN NUGGET
This is a really special and rare upright pinball/skill game made by Genco in the early 1950s. A small footprint and a lot of fun to play.
1954 GENCO TWO PLAYER BASKETBALL
A beautiful example of the rare Genco Two Player Basketball. Can be played with one person or two. Each player alternates shots. It is a lot of fun and super competitive. Perhaps not quite as pretty as the Chicago Coin Basketball champ but is more fun because of the competitive two player factor.
1954 GENCO BIG TOP RIFLE GALLERY
Rare and restored beautifully.
1954 GENCO BIG TOP RIFLE GALLERY
Both of these rare and beautifully restored Genco Big Tops are equal in every way. Jon restored them both examples from the ground up at the same time. Rare and one of the best vintage gun games from the 1950s. Art deco carnival themed gun game with moving targets!
1955 GENCO CHAMPION BASEBALL
Extremely rare vintage baseball arcade machine. The cabinet is very deep to allow balls to actually fly several feet through the air into target decks at the back of the playfield for scoring. Plastic balls are used which allow them to quickly fly went hit. Because Champion baseball has such a huge cabinet there is more of a real "ballpark" feel to the game. Similar to real baseball, the player swings a miniature wooden bat at the plastic balls delivered in free air. Keeps track of base hits with light animated runners on the back glass. In need of restoration, but a ton of potential to have one of the best and rarest baseball arcade titles.
1956 GENCO WILD WEST RIFLE GALLERY
Rare and an interesting western themed arcade rifle shooting gallery. Targets are floating horseshoes, disappearing bullseyes, pendulum Indians, lighted candles, running coyotes and flopover buffalos. Fantastic art deco western shooting gallery with moving targets.
1956 GENCO HI-FLY
Extremely rare pitch and bat themed EM game. The balls actually drop, and the player must time when to swat the ball to get the most homeruns and hits. One player or two players. I, 2 or 3 inning games. A fantastic "Home Run Derby" style vintage arcade game. Desired for any sports, baseball or vintage arcade coin-op collector.
1956 GENCO BASEBALL POOL
Rare title. Plays on a dime or two dimes for two players. Vintage baseball themed billiards arcade game. There are six skill holes with the light illumination backglass showing as baserunners advance. Interesting concept game and rare.
1956 GENCO davy crokett RIFLE GALLERY
The Indian moves back and forth enticing you to shoot him on the nose. If you are successful, his head pops back and quickly resets. The front two rows of targets are birds and foxes. a bell rings with every hit and the rifle recoils with every shot. After ten shots the game resets all targets. Twenty shots in total and the game registers the player's shooting skill.
1957 GENCO CIRCUS RIFLE GALLERY
Rare, but needs restoration. An entertaining circus themed rifle shooting gallery. Targets are realistic shattering clay pipe targets, a swinging gorilla and the "crazyball". The ball actually rolls across the back wall of the game and drops when hit.
1957 GENCO QUARTERBACK
Extremely rare football themed EM game. The ball is on an oscillating tee. The player must time when to kick the ball to get the most accuracy and longest kick. Scoring is in "touchdowns" with the back panel having scoring holes for 3, 5, 10 touchdowns. If the "super" scoring hole is hit, player can get up to 100 touchdowns. The player gets 8 downs, then the game is over. A fantastic game and a desired title for the sports or football collector.
