EARLY 1900S FRENCH DANCER AND MECHANICAL MUSICAL AUTOMATON
The only known example (circa: Early 1900s) of this exquisitely hand-crafted mechanical marvel produced in Paris, France. An extraordinary original mechanical musical treasure with a beautiful French performing dancer automaton. Displayed in a floor model Victorian cabinet standing over six feet tall with beautiful brass, copper and tortoise shell inlay. The legs have an elegant curve and there is also a center drawer for your winding crank key and lubrication oil. Inside the cabinet is a very complicated and sophisticated all mechanical cluster of musical instruments. The inner workings are powered by a motor that is spring wound with a hand key. This same wound motor also slowly moves a string pulley system that enables the dancer to perform. The restoration journey took several months to get all the internal mechanical musical instruments unbound, adjusted and properly functioning. The French dancer is still wearing her original ballroom gown costume and performs while the music plays in the glass and completely mirrored upper portion of the display. Electricity is used only for the vintage lighting illuminating above the dancing ballerina. It is mesmerizing and stunning! During the 18th century, society began its fascination over mechanism. The first of these intricate and elaborate machines produced were called "automata." The most appreciated mechanisms were those that could mimic living beings and music. This demonstrated mankind's efforts to imitate life by mechanical means with the intersection of art, science and music. This rarest of rare musical automaton is one such machine!
1950S COCA COLA DOUBLE SIDED NEON CLOCK

1800s horse drawn wagon
19th century horse drawn working wagon. Horses and carts have been used together since at least the fifth century B.C., around the time when the wheel was invented. These basic vehicles consisted of wooden boxes or crossed wooden stakes, connected to horses by leather or rope. The horse and cart have always been one of the simplest forms of transportation known to man. As people throughout the West started using automobiles in the late 1890s, the use of the horse and cart began its declined. A great piece of Americana.
